Lehn was born at Clay, Lancaster County, in 1798. He was a farmer during the greater part of his life, but about 1860 he retired and spent the greater part of the balance of his years, with a short interruption due to temporary blindness, making and decorating the curious decorated wooden ware which now bears his name. He died at Clay in 1892.
