Andreas Matthaus Wolfgang
German, 1660 - 1736
Engraver in Augsburg. Son of Georg Andreas Wolfgang the Elder. Trained with his father and subsequently together with his brother Johann Georg Wolfgang in England. On their return trip in 1684, the brothers were abducted by pirates and taken to Algiers where they were sold as slaves. They were only released after a ransom was paid (around 1691) and returned to Germany.
