According to French art collector and writer Jean-Charles Daviller (1823 – 1883), in his book 'Fortuny, His Life, His Work, His Correspondence,' published in 1875, this 1861 etching is probably the first print that Fortuny made. Inspired by his travels in Morocco, Fortuny creates a striking representation of a Tangiers street scene filled with rich detail.
