Luft was a Berks County, Pennsylvania artist, who took up etching to great success. He was a well-known artist and teacher in the Reading area and exhibited frequently at the Reading Public Museum. Some of his known etchings include Under the Arbor and The Plowman. This work, a view of Tower Bridge in London, was inspired, no doubt, by Whistler’s and Haden’s earlier studies of the River Thames.
