In a seventy-year career, Serwazi spent time as an illustrator for magazines including Ladies Home Journal and as a teacher at the Philadelphia School District. The year after this painting was completed, the artist was elected a full academician at New York’s National Academy of Design. The artist’s work can be found in the collections of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (where he attended classes), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the National Gallery of Art. This work shows the interior of the artist’s own home, with an elevated point of view and a tabletop with skewed perspective, which emphasizes the objects.
