This seascape painted on Monhegan Island in Maine has a rather interesting story attached to it. It remained unsigned and undated until 1960, at which time Redfield visited the Reading Public Museum, confirmed that it was indeed his work (as the registrarial records had indicated) and proceeded to sign and date the work. Redfield recalled that renowned American artist Robert Henri was also present when he painted the canvas.
