Within the space of a classical loggia, with round arch and supporting column, Christ is brought to trial before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea, who is engaged in conversation with the false witness pointing to Christ. Surrounded by armed guards, Christ occupies the center of the composition. Sixteenth-century style turrets and towers can be seen in the distance.
