Peterson, who trained at the Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York, later traveled to Europe where she continued to study painting in Paris, London, Madrid and Venice.  In Paris, she encountered current trends in modern painting including Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, and Expressionism. Known for landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, the artist distinguished herself throughout her long career with museum and gallery exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. In this outstanding example of impressionistic still life painting, the artist enlists a bold range of colors with broad, flattened areas of paint.
