Edmund Leaf Shearer was younger brother to Christopher Shearer but he never reached the level of achievement that Christopher did. He lived in Tuckerton and exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia in 1891. Very few paintings by him have been recorded. Many of those that did, date from the mid to late 1870s, which seems to have been the most active phase of the artist’s brief career.
