Tortoise shell snuff box, purportedly once belonging to Andrew Jackson.  Inscribed on lid  in French "Amour Unit Deux Coeur" (Love Unites Two Hearts) with an image of an angel flying from a church over a swan filled lake, shooting a heart with an arrow.  This box was likely a gift of love from Jackson's wife, Rachel. Jackson's controversial marriage to the former Mrs. Rachel Robards (1767-1828) was often attacked by political opponents even though it endured until Rachel's death, over 40 years.
