The burgonet helmet (sometimes called a bourgundian sallet) was a Renaissance-era and Early modern combat helmet. It was the successor of the sallet.  Weighing in at just over three pounds, the burgonet was probably the most popular type of light helmet in the 16th century.  It was used by all classes of soldiers whether on foot or horseback.
