The brilliant colors of Brooks’ still life paintings distinguished her among her fellow artists in Philadelphia. She was one of the founding members of the “Philadelphia Ten” and studied art at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women with Harry B. Snell. Brooks also painted with Snell in Gloucester, Massachusetts and visited Morocco, Spain and Italy. Sadly, her career was cut short by pneumonia at the age of 45.
