Techniques used to create a sense of monumentality are often successfully employed on Chorrera figures.  Their bulbous heads usually have red-slipped or painted hair with a central division that suggests duality.  The three-dimensional qualities of the heads are balanced by the flat expanses of the torsos and arms that are relieved by the curvature of the outer thighs and the slightly open legs.  The resulting effect is an image of a woman of great bearing and dignity.
