Andrade’s hard-edge, optical canvases of the 1960s and 70s left a mark on the Philadelphia art scene. She lived and worked in Philadelphia from the time that she trained as a student at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in the 1930s under Daniel Garber. She taught for decades at the Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts).
