In this scene, a daimyo procession comes into view as it enters the post station. Three commoners are shown kneeling next to the road markers out of respect as the lord's retinue passes. This was a common practice as dictated by rank.

At its peak, Fujikawa was home to 302 buildings and its total population was approximately 1,200 people. Today the government has been working actively to preserve this old post town as a tourist destination.
