This image depicts boats in both the foreground and background of this small fishing port, with Imaki Point jutting out into the sea and a distant Mount Fuji on the far right. Maisaka was located on the eastern shore of Lake Hamana. Here travelers crossed the lake by boat to reach Arai, the next post station on the Tokaido.
The pine colonnade in the foreground remains from the Edo period today and stretches from the Maisaka Railway Station to the entrance for the post station. Many visitors still come to this area, popular for its fishing and clam-digging.
