Seelig lives and works in Rockland, Maine and holds the rank of distinguished visiting professor in the Fibers/Mixed Media program at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia where he teaches, curates and writes on various subjects related to textile, fiber and material studies.

The artist’s Shadowfield/Colored Light is an example of what he describes as a “metaphorical textile,” which evokes fundamental sensations rooted in textile experiences. With a field of objects mounted on a stainless steel grid, the work extends from the wall and appears to hover. In the gravity-defying interactions between shapes and their projected shadows, color and rhythm, a new fabric of energy, light and motion is formed.
