Bunrô was a very rare imitator of Utamaro, although originally he was supposed to have been a pupil of Tani Bunchô.

Japanese takagari (falconry), which flourished during the Edo period, was a sport of the noble class, and a symbol of their nobility, their status, and their warrior spirit. Since this pastime was costly and required access to a large amount of space it was denied to all but the most fortunate of the common classes.
